From One Truck to New England's Trusted Name in Secure Shredding
In 2011, after years of service in the US Air Force, our founder came home to Western Massachusetts with a clear-eyed vision: the Pioneer Valley needed a document destruction company that combined military-grade discipline with genuine small-town accountability. Armed with a single mobile shredding truck and an unshakable commitment to doing things right, Valley Green Shredding was born on Katharine Street in Westfield, MA.
The early days were hands-on in every sense. Our founder was the driver, the sales team, and the customer service department all in one. Picking up bins from medical offices in Springfield before dawn, shredding boxes of old tax records for families in Northampton by mid-morning, and hand-delivering Certificates of Destruction by afternoon. That personal approach — knowing every client by name and treating every document like it mattered — became the foundation of everything we do.
Word spread fast. Hospitals, law firms, banks, and school districts across Western Mass quickly discovered that VGS wasn't just another shredding vendor — we were a security partner. Within a few years we earned the NAID AAA Certification, the gold standard in the information destruction industry, proving through rigorous unannounced audits that our processes meet the highest bar in the business.
Today, Valley Green Shredding operates across six New England states with a full fleet of mobile shredding trucks, a secure processing facility, and a growing document scanning division that helps organizations go paperless. We've shredded millions of pounds of sensitive material and transitioned thousands of file cabinets into searchable digital archives — but we still answer our own phones, and our founder still rides the trucks.
